Smooth polished volcanic basalt stones are heated and they absorb and retain the heat they can be placed on your chakras or on key places onyour body. In addition crystals can be used during your hot stone massage to align and balance the bodies energy. Massage Therapy and What it Can Do For You

Posted on 31 January, 2017 at 15:15 Comments comments (0)

What can massage therapy do for you?

The main reason clients visit Delucia Holistics for regular massage therapy is the level of relaxation and stress reduction that they achieve.

In todays society stress is on the increase with pressure coming from different sources, work-related stress, pressure at home and in relationships, worry and financial problems.

When a person is stressed they hold their body in a state of tension and strain which leads to muscle fatigue, soreness and stiffness - and they can experience muscle spasms caused by anxiety. If you carry tension in your neck, shoulders and back then massage therapy can bring relief. Other physical symptoms of stress include nausea, racing heart, palpitations, digestive problems, changes in appetite, insomnia etc.

Some clients are sat at a desk at a computer, or in a car driving for the majority of the day which can lead to muscular aches and pains that regular massage can relieve.

Mums and Dads with young children can often benefit from a little me time, as caring for children can be exhausting leaving little time for relaxation. Also carrying a small child on your hip, in your arms can lead to muscular pain and tension.

Pregnancy and post-natal massge can support a woman emotionally and physiologically when her body is going through many changes.

Media images can foster unrealistic expectations leaving individuals dissatisfied with their body and and with a distorted view of their image, which has a negative affect on self-esteem, confidence and sociability.

When a client enjoys massage therapy at Delucia Holistics, it gives them a safe space to wind down, and encourages deeper and more relaxed breathing, encourages better quality sleep. The relaxation reduces tension and the affects of stress, relaxes the mind and is soothing and comforting. Clients report that they feel more positive following a massage.

With a weekly programme of massage the clients immunity is boosted, and anxiety levels decrease. Clients report increased energy levels. This allows a sustained relaxation of body and mind. In addition massage improves the body image, awareness and self-esteem and is especially beneficial during weight loss programmes.

The Rising Popularity of Male Waxing

Posted on 31 January, 2017 at 15:10 Comments comments (0)

I can't help noticing that more and more guys are turning to waxing, and I've been asking my clients for their input it turns out there reasons for getting waxed are many and varied:-

Many clients have tattoos and piercings that they want to display they can be seen more clearly on a waxed body.

Some of my clients are gay and transgender and enjoy being well-groomed

Waxing is considered essential in the bodybuilding community especially at competitive level.

Sportsman such as Horse-riders, cyclists, footballers, swimmers, divers etc. very often prefer their body waxed and feel that it gives them the competitive edge. Some Sportsman require regular massage to encourage peak performance which can be uncomfortable when body hair is long.

Waxing is especially popular with men whose occupations require them to be sat down a lot such as lorry drivers, taxi drivers and office workers less warmth and perspiration.

Many men choose waxing as they feel it is cleaner and more hygienic it is cooler and there is less chance of perspiration and infections.

For a more youthful look if you’ve reached that age where your body hair has turned white and wiry or where hair has started sprouting out of the tops of your shoulders, your nostrils and ears and your eyebrows are getting out of hand. A full body wax can take care of it all - waxing can take years off you.

A smooth look is more aesthetically pleasing and sexy to yourself and your partner. Some believe their gentials look bigger and they have increased sensitivity.

Some are pressured into getting waxed by their partner and family

Some clients feel uncomfortable removing their top in public if they have body hair and have a wax before their holidays if they are going to a hot location

Some of my muslim clients have been trying to keep their hair no longer than a grain of rice which involves a lot of grooming they are relieved when they discover waxing

Naturists, Models and those that work in adult industry all prefer to be hair free and genrally opt for a full body wax.

One thing is for sure body hair is definitely becoming less acceptable to British guys.

Why You Should EnjoyGuilt Free Massage During Your Pregnancy

Posted on 31 January, 2017 at 15:00 Comments comments (0)

Well as a massage therapist I can tell you that we are taught not to treat pregnant clients in mainstream massage (make sure you use a qualified therapist also trained in pregnancy massage) - you need to do additional training for this form of massage. So it is not always easy to find a place to provide pregnancy massage and some mums to be just don't know it's out there.

There are some hotels and spas that offer treatment as a one off pregnancy pamper package and will charge you an excessive amount. If you're lucky maybe work colleagues will have a whip round so you can go ...but it will be unlikely you can afford to have the treatment regularly during your pregnancy. Here at Delucia Holistics we expect our customers to visit as needed during pregnancy and we are reasonably priced.

Us ladies can feel guilty or feel it is indulgent & frivolous spending time and money on ourselves during pregnancy when we know we have to get a nursery ready and buy lots of equipment and clothes for our new baby - and you know you are going to be on maternity leave for some time , - and some of you feel you have to even justify that! Push the boat out ...It may be also worth considering hypno-birthing, pregnancy yoga, & aquanatal exercise in addition to your regular pregnancy massage. Please don't stint on your well-being you are going through a life changing process and pregnancy massage can help you and importantly your baby and your partner.

I know you're probably wondering how can me getting a massage make your partner feel better. Well your other half know's you're having difficulty sleeping, and that you have backache, cramp, swelling, and nausea. There is not a lot he can do to help unless he's a professional massage therapist too - but he's really looking forward to the baby and he wishes he can take some of the strain off you. The majority of pregnancy massages are purchased by people who are from other countries who have a different viewpoint on health and well-being and also by partners and relatives who just basically want to help you during your pregnancy and ensure you have a relatively easy birth.

As a holistic therapist and beautician I've observed that men have no qualms about booking treatments regularly to ensure their health and well-being. If men could experience pregnancy we'd see them for a weekly pregnancy massage if not daily! Us ladies really need to wise up and take care of ourselves, have massage during your pregnancy and whatever else helps maintains the health of you and your baby.

Dental Staff and Massage Therapy

Posted on 31 January, 2017 at 14:55 Comments comments (0)

Dental practice staff put a great strain on their bodies, maintaining awkward positions, sitting or standing for long periods, making repetitive movements. This can cause back, neck, shoulder, arm and musco-skeletal pain and

can also cause referred pain to the hips, buttocks and legs....this is pain dental staff don't have to put up with, - a regular full body massage will help dental staff reach tip top condition and you will find you enjoy it and look forward to it as experienced by the majority of our clients. While the occasional ache or pain is nothing to worry about think again if you are ignoring persistent daily occurring pain and discomfort as the accumulative effect could lead to a condition or disability that negatively affects your career and home life.

Massage therapy is sometimes looked upon as a pampering treat to the majority of the general public, this is a misconception and just as you would urge your clients to look after their teeth, we urge you to look after your body responsibly and enjoy regular massage if it would enhance your well-being.

Pregnancy massage can be of enormous benefit to mother and unborn baby. Massage during pregnancy emotionally and physiologically supports a woman during a time when her body is undergoing many changes and can help prepare a woman's body for birth.

Pregnancy massage in our Manchester treatment rooms can help alleviate aches and pains and other common health problems associated with pregnancy such as back ache, tired legs and feet.

Preparing for the arrival of a new baby is exciting, but it is also a stressful time, massage can help lower your stress levels and is very soothing and calming.

Your baby also benefits from massage as you release "feel good" hormones during your massage called endorphins which are passed on to your baby.

What is Reiki? What Happens During a Treatment? How will I Feel Afterwards?

Posted on 4 January, 2017 at 9:45 Comments comments (0)

Reiki is an ancient healing system that was re-discovered in Japan during the last century.

What happens during a reiki healing session?

When you arrive at our Manchester city centre well-being centre you will be shown into a relaxing candlelit treatment room.

You will remain fully dressed and lie down on our comfortable couch. The reiki practitioner places their hands on or above you and the reiki energy flows through the practitioners hands into you healing you on all levels, mind, health & emotions. The reiki energy enhances and accelerates the natural healing process

Why choose Reiki?

Reiki promotes deep relaxation, reduces stress and enhances healing. Reiki can assist with a myriad of situations such as if you are experiencing any of the issues below Reiki can help:-

Work, - Are you working in a stressful environment, worried about job security or experiencing difficulties with your manager or boss.

Love life - Are experiencing a break up, feeling sad or having difficulties with your relationship.

Mind and Emotions - Are you experiencing depression, anxiety, panic attacks or anger.

Health - Reiki can eliminate or reduce insomnia, headaches, digestive issues (including irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS), bodily aches and pains, food disorders, and general malaise and more.

Family - Are you having relationship problems with family members, perhaps there are boundary issues or perhaps the demands of caring for a family member are weighing you down.

Will I Feel Better straight away? How many sessions will I need?

Yes, the effects of Reiki can be palpable and immediate. Depending on who you are and where you are in life, just one session might deliver deep rest, a sense of serenity, energy where and when you least expect it.

But to make a true change at the lasting cellular level, we need to see more of you.

We recommend a minimum of three sessions. When you are at an optimum level then you may benefit from a monthly maintenance session if your situation is re-occuring.

Typical Results

After the first session, you might anticipate being calm for the first time in months. Perhaps you feel your muscles releasing, you might feel so much more relaxed. Perhaps you notice you’re breathing deeper. Welcome to Reiki!

After the second session, you might find you are falling asleep more quickly —and sleeping more soundly. You might notice that you’re letting little things go—and no longer obsessing over them. You might notice a new clarity at work. Lovely!!

After the third session, you might marvel at your newfound accepting nature. You might surprise yourself by smiling a lot. You might feel simply centered—not just in your body, but in your soul.

Your personal results are for you to discover. We’re excited to hear about them, and we can’t wait to meet you!

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), How can it help you?

Posted on 4 January, 2017 at 7:00 Comments comments (0)

If you need an extra bit of oomph to help you achieve your goals, then EFT could be for you.

Emotional freedom technique is a simple healing technique incorporating energy psychology. The treatment involves tapping on specific meridian end points (acupuncture points) while repeating personalised phrases which focus on the problem. It is often described as "acupuncture without needles."

Emotional freedom technique (EFT) rebalances the energy system, encouraging more normal responses. EFT can help with emotional, psychological and physical issues.

Emotional freedom technique can help with many different issues and the founder of modern day Emotional Freedom Technique Gary Craig advises practitioners "to try it on everything".

I have worked with clients on many issues such as, addictions/habits, post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood abuse, weight loss, difficulties with children and much more.

Emotional freedom technique is a safe gentle non-invasive treatment, suitable for both adults and children. Your therapist is happy to work with children with a parent or guardian present.

Emotional Freedom Technique can produce remarkable results in a very short time. Clients love the fact that they are not required to spend years in therapy to resolve or relive their issues.
